For Lily-Rose Depp's first Oscars appearance, celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett sculpted vintage Hollywood waves to complement the actress' custom black Chanel halter gown.
Depp was on hand at the 2025 Academy Awards to introduce the Best Costume Design award and to cheer on the cast of her own film, Nosferatu, which was nominated in that category.
Scarlett used Olivia Garden hair tools to sculpt the actress' Veronica Lake-inspired peekaboo style.
Tips/Technique:
- Scarlett started by applying volumizing products to wet, clean hair.
- He sectioned the hair into two-inch sections using a SuperHP Hair Dryer and a Ceramic + ion ½" Round Brush to achieve a gorgeous blown-out look.
- Once the entire head was set and cooled, Scarlett brushed out the waves.
- He then returned to the two-inch sections and curled Depp’s hair with the Olivia Gardens Titanium + ion 1¼” curling Iron. To achieve the old Hollywood peekaboo look, Bryce curled towards the face on both sides of her head.
- Lastly, he smoothed out the curls with a flat brush and sprayed them into place with hairspray.
